RE: "Hits and misses at the 2016 expo” (The New Times, August 22).

I personally think that the purpose of expos should be to make a company's products known to the public. Expos are also intended to convince potential buyers that their product is better than that produced by competitors.

I am, therefore, surprised to hear companies complaining that they did not hit their sales targets during the expo.

In the West, companies taking part in the expositions do not do so with the sole purpose of making profits. Taking part in expos for them is part of showcasing their products.

In most cases, they even give out their new products to the public free of charge, especially if the product is not expensive.
