National Football League side Mukura Victory Sports have approved Rwf 159,622,229 budget for the upcoming 2016/2017 season. The budget was passed during the club's general assembly on Sunday in Huye District.

The budget is an increase from Rwf 156,345,585 for the Huye-based giants who finished third in the league behind champions APR and Rayon Sports.

During the general assembly held at Hotel Galileo, the club management also officially unveiled six new players including four from relegated Rwamagana City and two former Marines FC players.

Mukura have lost two star players namely left-back Celestin Ndayishimiye and Muhajiri Hakizimana who joined Police and APR respectively, but the club is confident the gap left by the two vastly talented players will be sealed.

"The departure of Ndayishimiye and Hakizimana will not affect us, our target is to do better than we did last season and we are capable. We have to focus on winning the title and I believe we can do it," Mukura President Olivier Nizeyimana told the assembly on Sunday.

"Newly signed players are talented and we have confidence in them, we want to build a strong team for the new season and they are part of our plans now," he added.

Among new players at Mukura include Christophe Bukuru, Patrick Ndikumana, Fabien Bagirayezu and Djumaine Hassan all from Rwamagana City FC while Hamidu Simpenzwe and Hassan Rugirayabo crossed from league archrivals Marines FC and were all signed on a two-year contract.

Ally Niyonzima, Jean Claude Zagabe, Aristide Habihirwe, Jean Pierre Gasongo, Ibrahim Nshimiyimana and Abou Ndayegamiye all renewed their contracts with the club.In the recently concluded 2015/2016 season, Godfroid Okoko's Mukura finished third in the regular league and were knocked out by Gicumbi FC in the round of 16 of Peace Cup which was claimed by Rayon Sports after overcoming APR 1-0 in the final, thanks to the lone goal of Ismailia Diarra.editorial@newtimes.co.rw
