Bourse closed as country marks Assumption Day

The local bourse will be closed today because it will be a public holiday to mark Assumption Day, the Rwanda Stock Exchange said in its daily market report on Friday.

The local bourse will be closed today because it will be a public holiday to mark Assumption Day, the Rwanda Stock Exchange said in its daily market report on Friday. However, the market will open on Tuesday. 

Meanwhile, the equity market pushed 738,000 shares worth Rwf106.5 million in 20 deals last week compared to Rwf207.8 million registered the previous week. This was Rwf101.3 million or 48.74 per cent decline in value terms, the report indicates. A total 1,381,000 shares were traded in 19 deals between August 1 and August 5. 

On the bond market, Rwf31 million worth of bonds traded between Rwf100.2 and Rwf105, while offers of Rwf26 million worth of bonds ranging from Rwf104-Rwf105 were received.

In a related development, the bourse was flat on Friday recording no transactions. Both the Rwanda Share Index and All Share Index remained unchanged to close at 136.84 and 129.36 points, respectively. Market capitalisation was at Rwf2.793 trillion on Friday. 

Crystal Telecom closed at Rwf70, the Bank of Kigali counter was at Rwf273, Bralirwa at Rwf160, Equity Bank was at Rwf334, while NMG closed at Rwf1,200, KCB at Rwf330, and Uchumi Supermarkets was at Rwf104.
