Volleyball: UNIK are crowned champions despite losses

Volleyball league champions, University of Kibungo (UNIK), on Sunday lost three matches during the playoffs played in Kirehe District.

Volleyball league champions, University of Kibungo (UNIK), on Sunday lost three matches during the playoffs  played in Kirehe District.

The champions, lost to youthful side IPRC, 0-3, they went on to lose to Kirehe 3-0, before former champions, APR beat them 3-0.

In other matches, Kirehe beat APR 3-2, and overcame IPRC South 3-1, while Kirehe lost to IPRC South 3-2.

UNIK finished top of the table with 59 points ahead of APR with 54 points while Kirehe finished In third place with 52 points while  IPRC South has 33 points.

Lycee de Nyanza (5th) Rayon Sports (6th) while Kigali Volleyball Club and Umubano Blue Tigers finished seventh and eighth respectively.

The top four teams will turn their focus on winning  Carre d’As title which will be played in August.

Meanwhile, APR women volleyball club will compete in this year KAVC memorial tournament that will take place over the weekend in Kampala, Uganda.

Rwanda will be represented by three teams including defending champion University of Kibungo (UNIK) Rwanda Revenue Authority (Women team) and APR.
