Malian striker Ismaila Diarra has signed a new one-year contract with Rayon Sports until the end of the 2016/17 season, the club president, Denis Gacinya has said.

Ismaila Diarra.

"Diarra is going nowhere after renewing his contract with Rayon Sports for a period of one year,” Gacinya said.

Diarra has previously been linked with a move to Kenyan Premier League side, AFC Leopards but talks fell through after disagreements over his monthly salary.

Reports in Kenya indicated that the 24-year-old was offered US$10,202 as recruitment fee, but when it came to his monthly salary wage, he demanded US$2,000 per month yet the club was offering him half of that.

Diarra joined Rayon Sports in February and signed a six-month contract until end of the just concluded 2015/16 season – he scored 12 goals in the league on top of assisting the club to win the Peace Cup.

The Blues, under interim coach Djuma Masudi, finished second with 61 points, six points behind the champions, APR FC. Diarra follows Burundian Pierrot Kwizera in signing contract extension with Rayon Sports.
