Newly appointed Police FC head coach Innocent Seninga has been tasked to win at least one trophy next season, according to the club spokesperson, CIP Jean de Dieu Mayira.
Police sacked Andre Casa Mbungo last month and replaced him with Seninga on a one-year contract with an option to extend it if he achieves the set targets.
Seninga, who will leave Etincelles at the end of the season after saving them from eminent relegation, has been tasked to win either the national football league or the Peace Cup for Police.
"Police FC have signed Seninga on a one-year renewable contract. We have set him tasks of bringing back glory to the club. He is expected to move the club to a better position next season but most importantly, he should win at least one trophy next season,” CIP Mayira told Times Sport on Thursday.
He added, "The idea is to perform better next season and the good thing is that he knows Rwandan football quite well. It is a new challenge for him but we believe he will be successful.”
Seninga was sacked by SC Kiyovu in January before joining Etincelles in February at the time when the Rubavu-based side was second from bottom of the 16-team league table standing with six points, three ahead of bottom-placed AS Muhanga.
Etincelles, AS Muhanga, Bugesera FC and Rwamagana City were promoted to the topflight division this season.
However, Seninga guided Etincelles away from the relegation zone into the relatively safe 10th place with 32 points with one game remaining.
During his brief spell in Rubavu, Seninga-led Etincelles registered wins over Sunrise FC, Rwamagana City, APR FC, AS Muhanga, Espoir FC and Mukura Victory Sports.
The former Isonga FC coach also managed to draw against Rayon Sports, Marines and Musanze FC. His team lost against AS Kigali and Gicumbi. His last game in charge of Etincelles will be against his new employers, Police FC on Sunday.
Police FC, who won the Peace Cup in 2014, are in fifth place with 50 points. During his playing days Seninga featured for Flash FC (now AS Muhanga), Intare FC, SC Kiyovu, AS Kigali (Les Citidens) and KIST FC.
