[LETTERS] Look for a relevant coach

There are hundreds of specific coaching offers, so it can be a little confusing to figure out who to work with. Just to mention a few, there is a marketing and branding coach, business development coach, life coach, creative coach, leadership coach, personal development coach, health and fitness coach, relationship coach.

Editor,

RE: "Career coaching is no one-size-fits-all” (The New Times, July 12).

I thank you for the article. Hopefully by answering this question, I will help shade some more light on this issue.

There are hundreds of specific coaching offers, so it can be a little confusing to figure out who to work with. Just to mention a few, there is a marketing and branding coach, business development coach, life coach, creative coach, leadership coach, personal development coach, health and fitness coach, relationship coach.

Find a coach who’s done what you want to do in the world. If you want to become a better leader, look for a good leadership coach with a track record for doing the same. If you want to become a CEO of a company, look for a good CEO coach, not a health and fitness coach.

It depends on what you want. If you want to be very successful as a business person, look for a business or an entrepreneurial coach. If you don’t know what you want, find one that helps people discover their life purpose.
