RE: "Kigali Convention Centre, the story of the ‘Rwandan Spirit’” (The New Times, July 9).

It was surely a proud moment for all Rwandans and friends of Rwanda to see the iconic Kigali Convention Centre finally move from projects to a most modern and unique MICE facility.

As President Paul Kagame rightly mentioned, the Kigali Convention Centre is a "true testimony of the Rwandan spirit.”

President Kagame further elaborated by saying that "we keep learning from our failures and we finally succeed.”

The country emerged from the ruins of 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi to become a most successful and prosperous nation on the African continent.

This masterpiece has raised the bar for MICE business in the country and will surely attract many international conferences and other events as well.

Kudos to Ultimate Developers Group, the Rwanda Convention Bureau, City of Kigali, various government and private agencies and the entire management and staff of Radisson Blu Hotel and Convention Centre for giving the spotlessly clean city of Kigali a great landmark.

However great the structure might be, it is ultimately people who make the difference. And it is my firm belief that the people of Rwanda will make that difference and beckon many international events to Kigali.

I wish the new and Remarkable Rwanda every success as the country hosts the AU Summit in the iconic Kigali Convention Centre.
