With only two rounds of games left to the end of the second division football league season, the battle for spots in the quarter-finals intensify today in a race for promotion to the country’s topflight football division.
Pool A table leaders Vision FC, with 37 points, lock horns with fourth-placed Hope FC (34 points) in Rutsiro District, each seeking to win and boost their chances of qualifying to the last eight.
In another crucial game, third-placed Vision Jeunesse Nouvelle (on 34 points) will be up against La Jeunesse (32 points) in sixth place at Memena stadium while second-placed United Stars (35 points) are not in action this weekend.
Similarly, the race for the top four spots in Pool B remains wide open. Table leaders Etiole de L’Est (45 points) host third-placed Pepinere FC, who have 41 points. Second-placed Kirehe FC (on 41 points) entertain eighth-placed Nyagatare FC, who have 20 points.
Interforce, who occupy the fourth position with 40 points, host Isonga FC in sixth place, at FERWAFA ground.
The top four teams from each pool will qualify for the quarter-finals which will be played on home and away basis on July 23 and 27, respectively.
