Four players from Rwanda’s topflight league teams, including two from league leaders APR FC, have joined Slovakia third division side MFK Topvar Topoľčany, Times Sport has learnt.

Midfielder Jean Claude Iranzi, 25, central defender Abdul Rwatubyaye, 19, (both from APR FC), midfielder Rachid Kalisa,19, (Police FC) and right back Fitina Ombalenga,21, (SC Kiyovu), have each signed 18 months with MFK Topvar Topoľčany.

"Talks have been ongoing for quite some time to secure the players, and we now can confirm that they have signed them. They have come to us and gave everything needed to get them,” APR Secretary General Adolphe Kalisa said in reference to Iranzi and Rwatubyaye’s transfer.

The quartet is set to join the Slovakian side at the end of the season late July.

Kalisa said joining MFK Topvar Topoľčany would help the players grow professionally.

"This is a big step forward in their careers and Rwanda benefits as well,” he added.

Founded in 1912, MFK Topvar Topoľčany is based in the town of Topoľčany.
