Rwandans in China mark Liberation Anniversary

The Rwandan community in the People’s Republic of China, on Monday, commemorated the 22nd Liberation Day.

The Rwandan community in the People’s Republic of China, on Monday, commemorated the 22nd Liberation Day.

The celebrations took place in different cities of China like Beijing, Guangzhou and Xiamen.

It was attended by Rwandan community in China and foreigners, including Chinese and students from East African countries.

The celebration of Liberation Day in Beijing was held at Beijing Language and Culture University and marked by a friendly basketball match between Rwandan Community in China and Chinese Students followed by "Ubusabane”.

In his speech, the charge d’affaires Virgile Rwanyagatare, shared with the audience about the Liberation of Rwanda by thanking the RPF Inkotanyi led by President Paul Kagame for the sacrifices and effort while liberating Rwanda.

He talked about the fruits of liberation such as people cohesion, security and stability; tremendous growth of the economy, success in health sector, education, peace keeping across the world, good governance and improvement of the living conditions of citizens. 

The Rwandan youth mainly those who were born after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi took the opportunity to express their contribution towards the development and pledged to build on the good legacy to take their country to a new high.
