Editor,

RE: "Free the leader: Arrest the politician" (The New Times, July 3).

Interesting perspective but for us Africans let us not treat articles from the Guardian and other left wing western media as biblical truth. First, when more than 51 per cent of voters in the UK decide that the European Union is no longer viable for their country, we must respect that and move on.

I foresee the same thing happening soon, most likely in France, Italy and several other countries in Europe if issues of unemployment and massive immigration are not addressed and tackled urgently.

The writer also alluded to the US and the ever-growing popularity of Donald Trump.

Also, when the gap between Wall Street and the blue collar workers in the US continues to widen then anyone questioning the status quo might win but, ironically, they need big bucks behind them.

The best candidate in my opinion for the next US presidency was the old man Bernie Sanders but, again, money talks. He was really speaking to the issues of the masses and no wonder young Americans were behind him, but we don’t live in a rosy world.

If you asked me, Trump and Hillary are the same!
