Second division title hopefuls Kirehe Football Club coach Jean Ndemeye is confident his team will gain promotion to the national football league for this season.

Ndemeye made the remarks ahead of today’s encounter with one of their bitter rivals Interforce FC at FERWAFA ground in Remera, kick off at 1pm.

Kirehe FC go into the match, top Group B with 41 points, three ahead of second-placed followed by Etoile de l’ Est FC, while Interforce are on the third position, four points adrift of the leaders, after 17 matches.

The Kirehe district-based club has never played in the top flight division, but Ndemeye believes that this could be the year for his team to enter into the history books of Rwandan football.

"Our aim is to play in the first division next season; we have been working hard over the years towards achieving that dream. Everyone around the team believes this is our season to achieve that goal,” he said on Friday.

Kirehe FC is in the same Group with Etoile de l'Est, Interforce, Miroplast FC, Pepiniere FC, Nyagatare FC, Heroes FC, Sec Academy, Rugende FC and Akagera FC.

The top two teams from each Group qualify for the semi-finals from where the best two contest for the title in the final. The two finalists earn promotion to the national football league.
