With the hope of winning the league title all but over, Mukura Victory Sports host AS Kigali in the national football league today at Huye Stadium, Southern Province, hoping to win and continue their push for a second-place finish.

Both teams are level on 53 points, eight behind leaders APR. Mukura won the first round fixture 2-0 on Match Day 13 at Kigali Regional Stadium in February.

"AS Kigali are a strong team, but our aim is to be ready for every game. We want to make good progress and finish as high as possible,” Mukura head coach Godfroid Okoko said on Friday.

AS Kigali coach Eric Nshimiyimana noted that, "It is not going to be easy against Mukura at their home, so we must be ready for the game.”

The former Rwanda international, whose team has won 15, drawn 8 and lost four in the league this season, added that his team can surprise Mukura who are in third place.

Whoever wins today’s game will leapfrog Rayon Sports in second place, at least for 24 hours, although the Blues have played five games less ahead of their clash with 12th-placed Espoir FC on Sunday in Rusizi.

"We are focused to finish as high as possible in the league, so we are looking forward to win this game. Getting three points on Saturday is vital to achieving our set targets at the start of the season,” noted Nshimiyimana.

Elsewhere, Etincelles will be up against Bugesera FC at Umuganda Stadium, bottom side AS Muhanga will play against Gicumbi FC at Muhanga Regional Stadium while SC Kiyovu will face Sunrise FC at Mumena Stadium.
