Contestants of the Primus Guma-Guma Super Star (PGGSS) Season 6 for the first time performed live before a record crowd at Tapis Rouge in Nyamirambo on Saturday.

The much-awaited roadshow, the third of the new season, pitted newcomers against members of the old guard as the 10 competing artistes continue to try their luck on the top prize.

Fans showed up in large numbers to support their favourite contestants as judges keenly observed how they can handle live performances. The previous two roadshows in Gicumbi and Karongi were semi-live.

The evening kicked off with the hosts, Anita Pendo and MC Buryohe, firing up the crowd with the help of DJ Bissosso before the first performers of the evening TBB came on stage at 6:30p.m.

Led by their front man Tino, who was disguised in a mask, the group, who are new entrants in the annual show, had the task to warm the rather reluctant crowd. They performed Mbwiza Ukuri and Vuza Ingoma before they relinquished the stage for Danny Vumbi.

Also a debutant, Vumbi did his best to cheer up the crowd, performing his songs Ni Uwacu and Ni Danger, which in between he took breaks to dance with his backup dancers. Vumbi proved that he was getting acquainted to the big stage compared to the first two shows.

On came fellow newcomer Gabby Umutare. Umutare knows that his strongest point is his vocal ability and he uses that well. The charming singer performed Ntunkangure and Mesa Kamwe.

But if something extraordinary was needed to put the crowd in a dancing mood, then Urban Boys had what it takes. The trio, considered among favourites this year, came on led by Safi, who was singing the chorus of his song with Fireman "Nyamirambo”, and as expected, it fired up the residents of the area.

Urban Boys performed Till I Die and Tayali which got the crowd into frenzy, sending a strong statement to fellow contestants.

To follow Urban Boys was Gakondo specialist Jules Sentore who performed Udatsikira and Angela, using the opportunity to show his vocal abilities.

He was followed by rapper Danny Nanone, who took time to recall his memories growing up in Nyamirambo. The Hip Hop artiste said that Nyamirambo, like other parts of the country, had registered impressive development in recent years, thanks to the country’s good leadership.

He pledged to contribute Rwf500, 000 of his personal income to Agaciro Development Fund, urging all Rwandans to be active participants in the country’s development process. He performed Njye Ndarapa and Ikirori which continues to fire up crowds where he goes.

Bruce Melody came on next, once again proving why he will be one of the artistes to beat in this edition of PGGSS. The crowd was overwhelmed by his performance of Ndakwanga and Umutwe, which got them singing and dancing along.

RnB star Christopher came on next and also proved that he is a force to reckon with. The Kina Music artiste performed Abasitari and Agatima, cementing his place among the favourites.

The two female contestants in the musical competition completed the evening’s performances, Allioni was supported by dancers as she performed Pole Pole and Impinduka, while Young Grace wound up the evening performing Sweet Poupou.

Bralirwa used the opportunity to unveil a new look Primus, which comes with a new refreshing bottle and labels.

The new look and taste were launched with a new song "Uburyohe”, which was performed by all the 10 PGGSS contestants.
