Rwanda's international paralympian Hermas Cliff Muvunyi has intensified preparations for the forthcoming Berlin Open Grand Prix, which is scheduled for July 16-17 in Germany.

The former World champion in the Men 800m-T46 Category had an outstanding record last year after qualifying for the 2016 Paralympics Games both in 400m and 1500m slated for August 5-21 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and will be seeking for a better platform for preparations and experience in this grand prix.

"Preparations are going on at a good pace and I want to compete in this Grand Prix (Berlin Open) to see how far I have reached and what I can work on as well as giving me a final taste of what I can expect in the Paralympics,” said Muvunyi in an interview with Times Sport, yesterday.

The 28-year-old runner revealed that he would consider retiring after the Paralympics Games, but noted that he would love make a historic retirement after clinching a podium finish at the world’s biggest event.

"I plan to retire after the Paralympics and that is why I am training hard so that I can put an end to my professional career in style, I have won a lot of medals, but my focus now is to raise my country’s flag at the summer events,” the APR athlete added.

The two-day annual tournament is set to attract top athletes from the world to get a taste of what they can expect during September’s Paralympics Games plus giving a final opportunity to other athletes to qualify through classification that will precede the main event on July 13-14.
