Sakabaka has attracted the best actors and actresses in Rwanda.

A new documentary film to showcase the progress Rwanda has made over the last 22 years is in the pipeline.

"Ishema Ryacu” is a brainchild of veteran actor and film director Dennis Nsanzamahoro, one of the outstanding members of the local film industry, under his film company Cinematic Productions Ltd.

According to Nsanzamahoro, commonly known as Rwasa, the shooting of the film in different locations of the country is already underway.

"This film will depict the progress Rwanda has made over the last 22 years after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Our intention is to show the achievements the country has registered,”

"The shooting is ongoing in different parts of the country where progress and development can be reflected,” Nsanzamahoro said.

While most movies about Rwanda rotate around the events of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, Ishema Ryacu intends to go an extra mile to show that the story does not actually end with the genocide but rather that is where it begins.

"Rwanda has made great strides in all areas of socio-economic development over the last 22 years. Using acting skills, we want to show the part of the story which many people disregard,” he said.

The documentary film premiering in February 2017 will bring together the best crop of local film actors.

Meanwhile the shooting of the 4th season local series Sakabaka, begins this week with a new twist to the plot. The series, which debuted in 2014, will focus on two love birds who fight for love to end. The protagonist will be a young man who returns to Rwanda after many years abroad.

He falls in love with a young Rwandan woman who is kidnapped and he will do anything to rescue her from the bad guys.

The new season of Sakabaka, which airs on Rwanda Television, will be released in a months’ time.

"The new season of Sakabaka will be more interesting and thrilling to the viewers. We have improved the quality of the video, scenes and shooting techniques. It is something viewers will love,” he said.

Nsanzamahoro is working on a plan to add renowned regional actors on the set, though at the moment he is still working on the logistics around it.

Nsanzamahoro, who has since joined the new Flash TV as a presenter, has also acted in 9 international and 5 local movies, making him a household name.
