Top cycling team riders to miss National Championships

FIVE national team riders will miss the upcoming National Championships, which will be held in June as they will be representing Rwanda at the upcoming Vuelta a Colombia (Tour of Colombia) slated for June 13 to 26.

FIVE national team riders will miss the upcoming National Championships, which will be held in June as they will be representing Rwanda at the upcoming Vuelta a Colombia (Tour of Colombia) slated for June 13 to 26.

They include Tour du Rwanda and Cycling Cup champion Jean-Bosco Nsengimana, Joseph Areruya, Jean Claude Uwizeye, Camera Hakuzimana, Patrick Byukusenge and Samuel Mugisha.

The riders will miss the National Championships/ Race against Clock on June 25 in Nyamata, and the Road Race: Muhanga-Huye + Circuits on June 26, but will be back in time for Race For Culture on July, 9.

Rwanda Cycling Federation (FERWACY) Permanent Secretary, Emmanuel Murenzi, said although the 5 riders will not be part of the event, other riders like Adrien Niyonshuti, Valens Ndayisenga and Bonavanture Uwizeyimana, who ride for Dimension Data (South Africa) and Germany- based- Bike Aid Hadi Janvier will be part of the event.

Regarding the Colombia Tour, Murenzi said that it is the first time for Rwanda to compete in the event which will boost the experience of riders.
