Bond market closes week on high note, records Rwf105.4m in total turnover

The bond market closed the week on a high note, recording a total turnover of Rwf105.4 million from Rwf100 million worth of bonds traded at Rwf105.39 in one deal, the Rwanda Stock Exchange (RSE) daily market report indicates. The deal ended days of inactivity at the bond market segment of the local exchange.

The bond market closed the week on a high note, recording a total turnover of Rwf105.4 million from Rwf100 million worth of bonds traded at Rwf105.39 in one deal, the Rwanda Stock Exchange (RSE) daily market report indicates. The deal ended days of inactivity at the bond market segment of the local exchange. 

Meanwhile, on the equities market, Bank of Kigali raked in a total turnover of Rwf388.3 million from 1.4 million shares traded in four deals during yesterday’s session. The counter closed at Rwf280, unchanged from Thursday’s closing share price. Bralirwa counter closed at Rwf173 stable, too. The trading session recorded a total turnover of Rwf81.1 million from 516,200 shares traded in three deals. Crystal Telecom counter closed at Rwf88, up from Rwf81 in the previous trading session. 

This (increase) pushed up the Rwanda Share Index by 0.70 to 145.40 points, while All Share Index went up 0.09 points closing at 130.43. The firm recorded a total turnover of Rwf438,500 from 5,000 shares traded in two deals. 

CHD Capital’s chief Shehzad Noordally said all the deals on both the equity and band markets were transacted in ‘normal’ trade.

The other counters on the equity market did not trade. Equity Bank was at Rwf334, NMG closed at Rwf1,200, KCB at Rwf330 and Uchumi Supermarkets was at Rwf104.

At the end of the formal trading hours, there were 541,400 outstanding shares at Bank of Kigali counter at Rwf280, while Bralirwa received offers of 32,400 shares at between Rwf173 and Rwf174, and the Crystal Telecom counter got outstanding offers of 653,300 shares at between Rwf88 and Rwf89. On KCB counter, there was an outstanding offer of 9,700 shares at Rwf340. All the four counters did not receive any bids. 

On the bond market, there was an outstanding bid for 500,000 worth of bonds at Rwf100.
