The national cycling team ‘Team Rwanda’ has turned their focus on the upcoming Vuelta a Colombia, (Tour of Colombia) slated for June 13-26, across the South American cycling nation.

The team will be compromised of Germany-Bike Aid rider Jean Bosco Nsengimana, Les Amis Sportif duo of Joseph Areruya Jean Claude Uwizeye, and Benediction Club trio of Camera Hakuzimana, Patrick Byukusenge and Samuel Mugisha. The team will be under Sterling Magnell, Jamie Bissell (mechanic) and Obed Ruvogera (therapist).

It is the first time for the team to compete in the event which will boost their experience.

Team Rwanda has been undergoing serious training over the last three weeks.

The team will leave camp on Saturday afternoon for a short break before heading back to camp on June 3 for final preparations before leaving for Colombia.

However, the participation of Patrick Byukusenge is yet to be confirmed as he nurses an injury sustained from an accident two weeks ago.

Rated among the world’s oldest cycling competitions, Vuelta a Colombia is in 2.2 UCI categories, just like Tour du Rwanda.
