After losing the league title to bitter rivals Patriots on Sunday, Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centre South (IPRC-South) head Coach Didier Bineza has revealed that they have turned focus to the forthcoming playoffs slated for June 17.

IPRC South, who were title favourites before hosting Patriots in a must win game, stumbled in the last two quarters after leading the first two by 26-15 but could not cope with their opponents’ extreme attacking pressure, hence losing the title in the final two quarters by a total of 52-45 points in favour of Patriots.

"It was our game to lose but my boys’ little experience could not match the intensity of the game.

However, we are not discouraged because we still have an opportunity for a silverware,” said Bineza in an interview with Times Sport.

"Our focus now is the playoffs and we are determined to finish this season with something to jubilate about,” he added

The playoff games will feature champions Patriots, second placed and four-time league winners Espoir, IPRC South and IPRC-Kigali.

Table leaders Patriots meet fourth placed IPRC Kigali, while second placed Espoir and third placed IPRC South also meet in first and second legs to determine who will qualify for the finals.

Meanwhile, champions Patriots were rewarded a trophy and Rwf1.5m, with runners-up Espoir pocketing Rwf1m.
