AS Muhanga yesterday appointed former Rayon Sports coach Abdu Mbarushimana to replace Edouard Rutayisire until the end of the season, according club officials.

The 2013 Peace Cup finalists are in the relegation zone after recording only three wins, five draws and losing 17 in the 25 games played so far.

Speaking to Times Sport in an interview, AS Muhanga president Damascene Ndayisaba said the new coach will take charge of the club in the remaining league fixtures and the Peace Cup tournament set for June before a permanent coach is announced.

"The team’s performance this season has been poor and a managerial change was an inevitable decision to save our campaign,” said Ndayisaba

"We have reached a short-term agreement with Mbarushimana mainly because of his experience in Rwandan football, he will be in charge until June when the post will be advertised and a permanent coach appointed,” he added

Muhanga’s remaining fixtures include three home ties against Rayon Sports, Sunrise and Gicumbi before away fixtures against Bugesera and Kiyovu.

Mbarushimana has previously coached Rayon Sport, Musanze, former KIST, Police, Amagaju, Nyanza FC, Kibuye FC, Electrogaz FC, FERWAFA Academy and Sunrise.
