AS Kigali 2-0 Espoir FC

After falling out of the title race earlier than expected, AS Kigali FC have set themselves a target to finish in the top four in the national football league, head coach Eric Nshimiyimana has said.

The former Amavubi coach made the remarks after his team fought hard to see off stubborn Espoir FC 2-0 on Sunday at Kigali Regional Stadium.

Onesme Twizeyimana scored in either half as Nshimiyimana’s side leapfrogged SC Kiyovu into fourth position with 40 points while Espoir remains 13th with 21 points.

"We dropped many points in the second round, we had a problem of inconsistency but we sat down and talked about our problems and now we have started to gain confidence,” Nshimiyimana said.

He admitted that his side has been struggling to earn points which cost them dearly in the title race adding that, "our aim is to finish in a better position; we can finish in the top three.”

Up next for Nshimiyimana’s side is a trip to Nyamagabe on Wednesday for the game against 10th-placed Amagaju FC (27 points) at Nyagisenyi stadium. APR FC lead the league table with 49 points following their 2-1 win against Sunrise FC on Saturday.
