Fourteen Heads of State are expected to attend the swearing in of Uganda’s President- Elect Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at the Kololo ceremonial grounds on Thursday.

Museveni was on February 20 declared winner of the 2016 Presidential election. This will be his sixth swearing in ceremony as President.

Frank Tumwebaze, Uganda’s Minister for the Presidency yesterday said that the Presidents expected include those from; Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kingdom of Lesotho, South Sudan, Tanzania, Mali, Togo, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Swaziland, China, Nigeria and the Russian Federation.

"Rwanda will send a representative because President Paul Kagame will be attending the World Economic Forum (WEF) to be hosted in Kigali,” Tumwebaze told reporters at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala.

The Minister added that two former Presidents, Ali Hassan Mwinyi of Tanzania and Mwai Kibaki of Kenya are also expected at the ceremony.

Other countries that will send representatives include; India, Japan, Germany, and guest from the East African Community (EAC).

Museveni polled 5, 617,503 votes (60.75%) in the February 18 presidential elections beating his closest rival Kiza Besigye, who garnered 3, 270,290 votes (35.37%). Former Prime minister Amama Mbabazi polled 132,574 votes representing 1.43%.
