Police on Saturday moved closer to a fifth league title after defeating archrivals APR 29-27 at Kimisagara ground to go six points clear on top of the table.
Antoine Ntabanganyimana’s side stretched their two-year winning record with a two goal difference; Gilbert Mutuyimana netted six times to guide the defending champions to a hard-fought win.
"It was such an intense game, we expected a tough challenge from APR and we had prepared for it, so I am thankful to my players because they played like champions. I hope this win gives us like 60% chances to win the league,” Ntabanganyimana said.
The win took Police to a tally of 21 points in seven games while APR, who have played a game less, remain second with 18 points, followed by Kibogora Polytechnic 17 points with Kigoma in the fourth position with 14 points.
