Rwanda’s national football team assistant captain Jean-Baptiste Mugiraneza is optimistic that he will recover from his calf and hamstring injuries a much stronger player.

Tanzania Premier League side Azam FC will miss the services of the influential midfielder for over two weeks after he picked up calf and hamstring injuries during their 2-all draw against Simba last week.

"I sustained two injuries during the game against Simba but I am felling better now because the doctors have been looking after me and I believe I will get back on the field soon,” Mugiraneza said.

He added: "I have been told that I may be out for a while but I hope to come back a stronger player, hopefully by end of June, I will be ready to play.”

The injury is most likely to rule Mugiraneza out of Amavubi’s upcoming high-profile international friendly against Senegal, scheduled for May 28 at the Amahoro National Stadium in Kigali.
