The Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has responded to the Confederation of the African Football body (CAF)over a complaint raised by its counterpart, Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), citing fraud in the African Under-20 Cup of Nations first round matches.

FERWAFA filed a complaint to CAF about the ages of the quartet of goalkeeper, James Ahebwa, Martin Kizza, skipper Halid Lwaliwa and Frank Tumwesigye.

In the statement published on the FUFA portal, yesterday, evening, the Ugandan body points out that FUFA have submitted the document of the four players in query.

"The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) would like to clarify on the matter that was brought to our attention by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after Rwanda FA lodged a protest on the variation of birth dates of four players in the U-20 team,” the FUFA statement said in part.

FUFA has since responded to CAF’s request by providing a set of documents for the quartet of Frank Tumwesigye, Ahebwa James, Lwalirwa Halid and Kizza Martin.

Players eligible for this tournament must have been born on 1st January 1997 or after and all Ugandan players mentioned fall in this age group.

The protest by FERWAFA is being examined by CAF and any other communication on this matter will be released by the competent bodies of CAF and If FERWAFA succeeds in the petition, Rwanda U20 will proceed to the second round of the 2017 Zambia AFCON U20 Qualifiers where they will face tough Egypt.
