Editor,

RE: "Publishers in drive to promote Kinyarwanda children’s books” (The New Times, April 27).

Good job, Save the Children Rwanda. This contribution is not only to the publishers’ but also to the children in Rwanda as well as to the country in general.

We have many of our own Rwandan publishers that are literary ‘not recognized’. But such events give a voice and exposure to their work. We will eventually see these publishers compete with other publishers at the national and international levels.

When our children learn that their favourite books are written and published in their own country, their love for reading grows deeper.

I am very excited about that progress. Our children now have the opportunity to access storybooks which are written in Rwandan context. I encourage parents to buy those Kinyarwanda storybooks for their children so they can develop a culture of reading at an early age.
