Ugandan musician Jose Chameleone, born Joseph Mayanja, over the weekend, held birthday celebrations at Plus250 Lounge and The Mirror Hotel’s Class Club in Kigali.

The singer was born on April 30, 1979.

The shows saw the launch of former Two4Real’s DJ Pius’ newly released Agatako song, which features Chameleone.

Chameleone kicked off his anniversary celebrations with a performance at Plus 250 Lounge on Friday night during which he and DJ Pius launched the ‘Agatako’ video.

Overwhelmed by the turn-up and the love shown by his fans, the music star broke down and shed tears of joy, confessing he felt that Rwandans treated him like one of their own.

"I am overwhelmed by this to be honest, look at me,” the singer emotionally. At the height of excitement, he grabbed a bottle of whiskey and poured shots in fans’ mouths. He also cut the cake and shared with revelers.

Flanked by DJ Pius, Big Fariouz and Alex Muyoboke, Chameleone performed a few of his old songs and other popular Ugandan hits before taking to the decks to show off his deejaying skils.

But, during the Saturday show at Class Club, the host, comedian Arthur Nkusi, struggled to contain revellers’ frustrations caused by the delay in the musicians’ arrival.

The show kicked off around 12:45am, about two hours late.

Scheduled performances by Big Fariouz of Burundi, Jody Phibi, and Charly&Nina, among others, were cancelled in the process, leaving Chameleon as the only act on the night.

But the ‘Badilisha’ star managed to entertain the audience with a live performance. He took to the stage few minutes to 1am with a band and performed live for close to 40 minutes.

The singer thrilled his Rwandan fans through some of his songs, including Wale Wale, Shida za Dunia, Tubonge, Valu Valu, Mama Mia, and Kipepeo, to name a few.
