Prosper Mulindwa was elected on Thursday, December 7, as new Mayor of Rubavu District, replacing Ildephonse Kambogo.

Mulindwa, previously the acting Mayor of Rutsiro District, got 180 out of the 259 total votes. He replaced Kambogo who resigned, in May, due to mismanagement of the disaster response effort in his area.

Kambogo resigned on May 5 during an extra-ordinary seating of the district’s advisory council.
