AS Kigali overcame Les Lionnes FC 2-1 to extend their winning streak on Saturday at Kigali Regional Stadium as they continue their hunt for a record-extending eighth consecutive women national football league title.

The home side got their goals through strikers Anne Marie Ibangarye and Liberata Nibagwirwe in the 30th and 35th minutes respectively while Pauline Nyiranahompagaze pulled one back for the visitors on the stroke of half time.

The win took Grace Nyinawumuntu’s side to 12 points at the top of the table, four points ahead second-placed Bugesera FC while Rambura FC are in third position. Kamonyi, which walloped Inyemera 7-0 complete the top four with seven points.

"We played a good game and my players followed the instructions but we still have a long way to go,” said Nyinawumuntu.

Gakenke FC embarrassed bottom side Nyagatare 20-0, following a similar humiliation at the hands of Rambura last week.
