Police FC coach Andre Cassa Mbungo will have to face his foes Mukura without three key starting players in a high-bill national football league clash on Sunday afternoon at Kicukiro stadium.

The missing players, include; goalkeeper Emery Mvuyekure, left back Ngirinshuti Mwemere and midfielder Rachid Kalisa, all due to injuries.

Looking ahead to the game, Mbungo said, "We want to kick-off the second round in the best way possible. We face Mukura, a very good team, and in fine form this season, it won’t be an easy game, nonetheless, we need to win it to reduce the gap on the teams above us in the table.”

The former AS Kigali coach admitted that if his fourth-placed side is to catch up with the teams above them, they must drop points in today’s match against a team, which is a place and four points ahead.

"It’s unfortunate that we will be without three key players, who are out with injuries, but we have other players to fill those gaps, we must give absolutely everything that we can to win the game on Sunday because any point matters in the title race,” he explained.

The good news though for Mbungo is the return of midfielder Robert Ndatimana and striker Isaac Muganza, who trained with the rest of the squad this week.

Ndatimana has been out for the last three months after he was arrested over allegations that he had sex with a minor, but he is now back in the fold and is expected to start whereas Muganza has recovered from an injury.

Mbungo’s counterpart, Godfroid Okoko is anticipated to start with former Rayon Sports midfielder Jean-Marie Vianney Rukundo on the bench. The player signed a short term contract until the end the season.

Police beat Mukura 2-1 in the first round at Muhanga stadium on Match Day 2, and will be seeking to complete the first league double of the season by any team this campaign.

Tentatively, Mbungo’s side are in 4th place with 28 points, level with AS Kigali, who have an away game against Rwamagana City.

AS Kigali coach Eric Nshimiyimana is expected to start with his two new signings: former APR winger Charles Tibingana and ex-Police FC forward Emmanuel ‘Crespo’ Sebanani.
