"We hope to have the second edition of the Genocide Memorial Tournament staged this year in June. The aim is to remember our loved ones who perished in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi; there is an organizing committee in place meant to coordinate these tournament,” Nzamwita said.

Gabon, Morocco, Uganda, Kenya, Sudan, Burundi and Tanzania are said to have shown interest to join Rwanda for the memorial tourney.

Last year, the Organising Committee led by Nkurunziza Gustave, president of Rwanda Volleyball Federation chose June as a month reserved for all sporting federations to hold their respective Genocide commemoration tournaments.

The first edition of the Memorial Football Tournament staged last year was played in a round-robin format, attracting four nations namely Kenya, South Sudan, Tanzania and hosts Rwanda.
