The national women’s beach volleyball team are upbeat ahead of their final stage of 2016 Rio Olympic Games final round qualifiers scheduled to start today until Sunday in Abuja, Nigeria.

Four players - Seraphine Mukantambara, Judith Hakizimana, Denyse Mutatsimpundu and Charlotte Ndayisenga traveled on Tuesday morning to participate in the five-day tournament in Abuja.

Rwanda has been drawn in Pool B alongside Sierra Leone, Kenya, Morocco, Ghana and Namibia, and will be seeking for top spot to qualify.

Judith Hakizimana said they are optimistic and in high spirits to progress and secure an Olympic qualification spot.

"It is not going to be an easy tournament for us because everyone wants to qualify, but we are going to do work hard for every match we are going to play. We are determined to book a qualification spot,” the Rwanda Revenue Authority left attack said before departure.

In Pool A, hosts Nigeria, Mozambique, Mauritius, Egypt, Gambia and Burkina Faso will battle it out for a qualifying spot.

Meanwhile the men’s category will play the final round in Tunisia in May.
