Rayon Sports FC striker Davis Kasirye has set his target high by promising to score more goals when the national league second round kicks off on April 15.

The lanky 20-year-old forward, who signed from Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) this season on a three year contract, has vowed to become the league top scorer at the end of the season.

Currently, Mukura VS midfielder Muhadjiri Hakizimana tops the top scorers’ chat at the half way stage of the campaign with 9 goals. Kasirye is Rayon Sports’ top scorer with six goals, level with AS Kigali and Amavubi striker, Ernest Sugira.

The Ugandan striker netted in each of Rayon Sports’s last two league matches against Musanze and Amagaju FC. Rayon is second in the league table with 32 points, two behind leaders, APR FC.

Asked how he’s copying with life at Rayon Sports, Kasirye said: "At the beginning, there were some difficult moments, but now I do get along with the other players very well, they are great teammates.”

"I’m looking to achieve something special here by scoring more goals, besides, I need to win at least win one trophy, either the Peace Cup or the league,” he vowed.

The striker, who had some troubles with the club management midway in the first round of the season, believes the Rwanda league is tougher than he expected, "Each game is very difficult, it’s like playing a final.”

"Rayon needs to keep together if we are to win the league this season; the club needs to keep some of the players around in order to put the club back where it deserves to be,” he noted.
