Kwibuka 22: Let's all commit to the collective pledge of 'never again'

RE: "Youth survivors conclude tour ahead of Kwibuka 22”(The New Times, April 5).

As Rwandans and friends of Rwanda in the country and elsewhere commemorate the 22nd anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, we bow down in reverence and in prayer for the victims as well as the survivors of that inhuman tragedy that befell the country and mankind.

It is a known fact that freedom and liberation always come at a price. But having to pay the price of one million innocent lives is something unimaginable.

While it is said that "history repeats itself”, Kwibuka 22 is a time when one and all must take a firm resolve to "Never Again” let genocide happen neither in this beautiful land nor in any part of planet earth.

The activities undertaken by AERG and GAERG are indeed commendable.

Youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow and it is very encouraging to see what all the youth survivors have been doing ahead of Kwibuka 22 so as to ensure that the memories of their dearly departed family, relatives, and friends will live on forever.
