Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli on Wednesday began his two-day state visit to Rwanda by joining President Paul Kagame in the launch of the Rusumo One-Stop-Border Post and International Bridge on the border between Rwanda and Tanzania.

During the event, the Tanzanian leader said that African countries have all it takes to develop, calling for hard work by all concerned to ensure lives are transformed.

"For the two days I will be in Rwanda, I will learn a lot and I want to assure you that Tanzanians are your brothers. Africa has been blessed with resources. We have all we need to develop and transform our lives,” President Magufuli said.

The refurbished border facilities are expected to ease trade along the Central Corridor, which links Rwanda to Dar es Salaam Port.

Speaking at the event, President Kagame hailed peace, as a foundation of a cooperation that will transform the two countries.

"We want the number of people who cross this border to increase. We want trade to increase because that will be to the benefit of both the people of Rwanda and the people of Tanzania,” he said.

President Magufuli is also scheduled to join Rwandans in events to launch the 22nd commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
