Home supporters booed Thierry Froger at fulltime after his APR FC side were Tuesday held by Gasogi to a barren draw in a Rwanda Primus National League week 13 encounter at Kigali Pelé Stadium.

It wasn’t the performance that supporters expected from both teams, especially APR who failed to find the back of the net throughout the game.

Froger was at the centre of criticisms when he snubbed Sharaf Shaiboub and opted to start Ismail Pitchou Nshimirimana and Bosco Ruboneka in midfield, a choice that left fans unimpressed.

APR FC started the match brightly and maintained their dominance as Pitchou and Ruboneka provided the needed arsenals to striker Victor Mbaoma, Apam Assongwe and Alain Kwitonda in attack.

Gasogi also looked lively in attack led by their danger man Theodor Malipangou. The visitors created some decent chances in the first 30 minutes, but goalkeeper Pavelh Ndzila and his defenders were up to the task as they defended gallantly.

Gasogi defenders policed Mbaoma who struggled to freely exert his influence on the game.

The first half ended with both teams failing to score.

After recess, APR decided to beef up their attack in the second half as Froger brought on Innocent Nshuti for Claude Niyomugabo whereas Taddeo Lwanga also replaced Apam Assongwe to feed the attackers.

Mbaoma thought he had given APR the lead when he lobbed the ball past goalkeeper Ibrahima Dauda but before a defender cleared it on the goal line to the away fans’ relief.

Both teams pushed forward to break the deadlock in search of a winning goal in the final fifteen minutes but they struggled to capitalize their chances as the referee blew his whistle to end the game.

Despite the result, APR maintained their lead at the summit of the table standings with 27 points although Musanze FC who beat Amagaju FC 2-0 in Huye have now closed the gap to within just a single point.
