IT Consortium Rwanda appoints robotics expert Karenzi as CEO

The newly appointed CEO of IT Consortium Rwanda, Ben Karenzi, a robotics expert in Rwanda.

IT Consortium Rwanda, a financial services technology (fintech) solutions provider, has announced the appointment of Ben Karenzi, a robotics expert, as its new CEO.

Karenzi, who holds a Masters of Science in Oil and Gas Enterprise Management from the University of Aberdeen and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Rwanda, brings a wealth of experience.

He has previously worked with MTN Rwanda, Rwanda Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board, and is the CEO and founder of ZoraBotsAfrica.

In an interview with The New Times, Karenzi shared insights into IT Consortium&039;s mission, stating: "Here at IT Consortium, we adapt technology to create systems that provide clear competitive advantages to our customers."

He discussed the company's initiatives, including the introduction of "Chango," a crowdfunding platform aimed at democratizing investment in Rwanda's capital market. He emphasized the importance of narrowing the gap between institutional investors and small retail investors.

Another product mentioned by Karenzi is "OSIS," an online student information system designed to manage the entire student lifecycle. "This blockchain-enabled system ensures transparency in student assessments and facilitates efficient student finance planning,” he said.

"As a company, we are strategically expanding our operations across the African continent, and commencing this journey in Rwanda serves as a significant catalyst. Our goal is to establish an intra-Africa payment system. While navigating through diverse regulatory landscapes in the countries we enter, we are actively expediting the process to contribute meaningfully to the realization of the vision set forth by the Africa Free Continental Trade Area,” he said.

"We have a responsibility to elevate Pan African solutions, in my term I anticipate multiple innovations along the way. In the ever-evolving landscape of technology, our commitment remains steadfast to driving positive change and fostering financial inclusion throughout the continent,” Karenzi added.
