Rwanda national cricket team will face Kampala Institute of Cricket Club (KICC) in the two warm-up matches this weekend at Kicukiro cricket ground.

The Uganda national cricket league side arrived in Kigali yesterday with 14 cricketers, headed by their team captain, Hanumant Katkar. Both teams will contest in a Twenty20 game on Saturday and a 50-overs game on Sunday

Rwanda is using the two games as part of their preparations ahead of the ICC Division 2 T20 tournament scheduled to take place from Aril 15-20 at Benoni Willowmoore Park in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Eric Dusingizimana will lead the Rwandan side which also includes the likes of Sruthin Gopi, Ivan Mitali, Don De Dieu Mugisha and Eric Hirwa, the most experienced players on the team.

Rwanda’s head coach Davis Turinawe said that friendlies are very important for team as they prepare for the forthcoming international tournament.

"These two matches will help to add impetus and confidence in the players ahead of the tournament in South Africa,” the former Uganda international said on Friday.

Rwanda, which is in the same group with Sierra Leone and Mozambique, will set off for South Africa on April 14.
