Editor,

RE: "The Rwandan spirit will prevail against Genocide revisionism” (The New Times, March 29).

The CNDD-FDD (Burundi’s ruling party) communiqué was disgusting to say the least, and I can assure you that the majority of Burundians were shocked. The communiqué attacks Rwandans and denies the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi; I can’t help but worry about the Tutsi in Burundi.

There is one thing that they (the government in Bujumbura) forget: where they are. Others were there before them and eventually they, too, will be replaced. For us in Bujumbura, no one reads or listens to their nonsense anymore.

Hate speech must be categorically condemned. I am surprised that no one has issued a statement about it.
