Uganda Vs Rwanda, Jomo Kenyatta Stadium

Kickoff: 10AM CAT

Rwanda will be aiming to secure qualification to the final of the 2023 CECAFA U18 Championship in Kenya when they face rivals Uganda in the semifinal match taking place at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium, on Tuesday, December 5.

It has been a good show so far for the junior Amavubi who secured their spot to the last four after defeating Sudan 3-0 on Friday in the last match of the group stages.

It was Rwanda’s second win, after Somalia (1-0), in three matches played in group stages. They opened the campaign with a 1-0 victory over Somalia before falling to a 1-0 loss to hosts Kenya. The latter finished top of Group A with 9 points, three ahead of second Rwanda with 6 points.

Jean-Baptiste Kayiranga’s side’s second place finish saw his side qualify for the semifinal in which they will have to beat traditional rivals Uganda to advance to the final.

Uganda, on the other hand, started the tournament with a 2-1 defeat to Tanzania, but they bounced back to beat Zanzibar and South Sudan to qualify for the last four as Group B table leaders.

The game promises to be exciting one, considering both teams have outstanding individual talents who can settle the game.

For Rwanda, Kayiranga will rely on the likes of skipper Kennedy Hoziana as well as Didier Ndayishimiye carry the team on their shoulders in the quest for a spot to the final while Uganda's main man is KCCA FC starlet Abubakar Mayanja as well as Travis Mutyaba.

Rwanda's stronghold has been their attack and, if the defenders can hold their fort at the back, victory will certainly prevail.
