Amavubi stars of Rwanda Tuesday evening scored five past Mauritius at Amahoro stadium in Kigali in the ongoing 2017 African Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. 

Savio Dominique Nshuti was first on the score sheet in the 11th minute with a well-placed header that gave Jean Louis Kevin Obrim, the Mauritius goal keeper, no chance.

Twenty minutes later, Ernest Sugira made it 2-0 with a fine volley just inside the box before he completed his brace a few seconds later, finishing in an empty net after beating the Mauritian goalkeeper.

First half ended 3-0.

After the break Rwanda started from where they had left off before the interval, creating a succession of chances. This paid off in the 74th minute when full back Fitina Ombarenga’s long range shot found the back of the net.

Substitute Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza, who had a goal disallowed for offside earlier on, completed the rout in the 90th minute.

The Mauritius National Football team, ‘Les Dodos’, were 1-0 winners in the first leg when the two teams met on Saturday at Belle Vue in Mauritius.

Ghana lead Group H with 10 points while Rwanda and Mauritius have six points each. Mozambique, who play Rwanda on June 3 in Kigali, are rooted bottom with one point.
