Price of passion fruits up in Kigali

The price of passion fruits has gone up in most city markets, while prices of other foodstuffs were unchanged compared to last week. A kilogramme of passion fruits now costs Rwf1,500 in all the main markets in Kigali city and its suburbs compared to Rwf1,300 a week ago.

The price of passion fruits has gone up in most city markets, while prices of other foodstuffs were unchanged compared to last week. A kilogramme of passion fruits now costs Rwf1,500 in all the main markets in Kigali city and its suburbs compared to Rwf1,300 a week ago. 

The price of tomatoes, however, decreased to Rwf6,000 per basic (measuring unit) in Kimironko market, from Rwf6,500 over the same period. The price of mangoes remained stable at Rwf1,200, that of fresh beans is at Rwf500, while fresh peas go for Rwf1,200 per kilogramme and Irish potatoes is at Rwf200 per kilo. Sweet potatoes cost Rwf220 per kilogramme, bananas are at Rwf240 a kilo, millet flour cost Rwf1,300 a kilo in most city markets, and cassava flour costs between Rwf300 and Rwf450 per kilogramme in Nyarugenge market.

A 25-kg bag of maize flour ranges from Rwf11,000 to Rwf12,000, and a kilo of maize flour costs Rwf600.

Cabbages range from Rwf250 to Rwf350, carrots go for Rwf650 per kilo, and onions cost Rwf700 per kilo, and a kilo of tomato tree (ibinyomoro) is at Rwf1,400 in Nyarugenge and Nyabugogo markets.

The price of beef is also stable compared to last week at Rwf2,400 per kilo, and that of salt is at Rwf200 in Nyarugenge and Kimironko markets.

A kilo of oranges cost Rwf1,200, while a medium-sized pineapple costs Rwf500 each and watermelon (big) is at Rwf3,000 each.

Sugar is at Rwf700 per kilogramme, rice (Thailand) costs Rwf800, while that from Pakistan goes for Rwf750 a kilo.
