The Ministry of Education revealed the results for the 2022/2023 Advanced Level national examinations on Monday, December 4. Seventeen top performers from various education streams were honoured for achieving a perfect score of 60/60, each receiving a brand-new Lenovo personal computer.

In a press briefing, Gaspard Twagirayezu, Minister of Education, said: "While these recipients represent excellence, it is important to note that they are not the sole achievers. The introduction of the competence-based curriculum has given rise to new skill sets across various trades. This year, our decision to recognise and reward these 17 top performers is rooted in our commitment to inclusivity.”
"We acknowledge the diverse talents emerging from these new trades. In essence, the ministry sought to extend recognition to at least one outstanding student in each category. This initiative aims to convey our support, encouraging all students to pursue their respective fields with dedication and passion,” Twagirayezu said.
General Education
In the General Education category, Emille Cyubahiro from Petit Seminaire St Jean Paul II Gikongoro emerged as the top performer in the Science section, specialising in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology, Cyubahiro also received recognition from the East African Community for his efforts.
Anselme Muhozi from E.S Ruramira claimed the leading position in Arts and Humanities, focusing on History, Economics, and Geography.
In the Languages category, Martha Samaza Izere from College du Christ-Roi secured the highest rank with a specialisation in Literature, Kiswahili, and Kinyarwanda.
Teacher Training Colleges (TTC)
Ismael Kwizera excelled as the top performer in Early Childhood and Lower Primary Education, completing his studies
at TTC Save. Aimable Nkuzwenayo claimed the top spot in Language Education, also hailing from TTC Save.
Jean Bonheur Icyikunze was the best in Science and Mathematics Education, representing TTC Save, and Blaise Izabayo from TTC Zaza was the best in Social Studies Education.
Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET)
Audax Kayitare from Rwanda Coding Academy emerged as the top performer in ICT and Multimedia. Alpha Shalom Tuyizere from Nyanza TVET School claimed the lead in Construction and Building Services, while Aliane Iranzi from College APPEC achieved excellence in Business Services and Administration.
Docile Imbereyemaso from Mibilizi Saint Augustin TVET stood out in Technical Services, and Jeannot Isingizwe from ITER Rutobwe secured the top spot in Transport and Logistics.
Umwari Ngiruwonsanga from St. Mary Dominica Mazzarello excelled in Hospitality and Tourism, and Elisa Ntakinanirimana from Center for Champions TVET emerged as the best in Energy. Olivier Nshimiyimana from HVP Gatagara TVET School led in Manufacturing and Mining, Silas Muneza from ESTB Busogo showcased excellence in Agriculture and Food Processing, and Patrick Ibyishaka from HVP Gatagara TVET School stood out in Craft and Recreational Arts.
The Ministry has made the national examination results accessible online where candidates can follow instructions for viewing. Alternatively, results can be obtained by sending the full candidate’s index number to 8888 via SMS.
