Ecole Secondaire Kigoma will have a mountain to climb seeking to close the gap on the handball league table leaders when they play two matches in one day against Kibogora Polytechnic and Groupe Scolaire Rambura today at Kimisagara ground.

In 6th position with four points, Kigoma will play first against third-placed Kibogora, who have proved to be serious title contenders having lost only one game against defending champions Police, before taking on ninth-placed GS Rambura at 4pm.

Kigoma coach Sylvestre Mudaharishema lost seven players at the end of last season, who completed their studies at the Ruhango-based school, but he  revealed that despite losing to Police in their last outing, his boys are determined to bounce back today in order to keep their campaign alive.

"We know Kibogora very well, they have made an impressive start to their first season in the league and will be hard to beat, but we have the plan to defeat them, we need to get all six points and close the gap on the teams above us,” he said.

Reigning champions, Police, unbeaten in the league for a third season running; will be up against University of Rwanda College of Education (4th) while second-placed APR plays away to Ecole Secondaire Kigoma (8th) at Birambo ground.
