Southern League leaders Resilience Rugby Football Club are looking to extend their undefeated run in their maiden season as they host Kamonyi Pumas on Saturday in Rusizi District.

"We have set the pace and we need to maintain it. We don’t want to lose any game,” said Resilience coach and captain, Donatien Ufitimfura.

Resilience are unbeaten in their first season in the rugby league after 4 wins out of 4 including the 29-12 win over Pumas on February 21 and a 15-0 win over University of Rwanda Grizzlies on March 12.

Ufitimfura added that: "All our rivals play a physical game, and we have been guilty of not offloading quickly, we lost try opportunities against the Grizzlies in our last game. But we have worked on it.”

His counterpart of Kamonyi Pumas, Adolphe Mahata, says the team will employ a conservative approach against Resilience.

"They are very fit and fast. We have to engage them at the ruck and defend tightly, and force them to make penalties,” he explained.

Resilience lead the four-team Southern League with 19 points, Pumas are second with 12 points, Grizzlies are third with 4 while winless Muhanga are bottom with 3 losing points.

In the Kigali League, a revamped Lion de Fer host league leaders Thousand Hills at their new home ground in VTC Butamwa in Mageragere. Lion de Fer lost 34-9 to Thousand Hills on Feb 6.

"Our players have come back, we have the numbers and we are ready this time, we want revenge,” said center Cambara Marcel.

Thousand Hills will be aiming to secure their place in the play-offs and keep off pressure from reigning champions, Remera Buffaloes, who have two games in hand against Lion de Fer.

Thousand Hills lead the four-team league with 12 points, three ahead of second-placed Remera Buffaloes Lion de Fer are 4th with four points and Kigali Sharks are bottom with 3 points.
