Team Mpoyo 126-116 Team Hagumintwari

Axel Mpoyo has been crowned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the 2021/22 Rwanda Basketball League season.

Mpoyo, a power forward for Rwanda Energy Group (REG), beat his teammate Adonis Filer, as well as Patriots' Kenneth Gasana and Steven Hagumintwari to the award.

The 25-year-old played a big role as REG won this year's championship, and was also named to lead one of the two teams that took part in the All-Star Game that took place on Saturday, September 24.

In the women's category, REG's Power Forward, Mireille Nyota Muganza was named the MVP, in addition to being awarded as the best scorer of the season.

Meanwhile in this year's All-Star Game, Team Axel Mpoyo beat Team Steven Hagumintwari 126-116.

Men’s team of the year:

Adonis Filer (REG), Kenneth Gasana (Patriots), Steven Hagumintwari (Patriots), Axel Mpoyo (REG) and Pitchou Manga (REG).
