Valentine’s Day arrived early for art enthusiasts at the Inema Art Centre in Kacyiru, where a four-day Valentine’s-themed art exhibition came to a close yesterday.

Titled "Whispers of Love”, the solo exhibition by Innocent Nkurunziza, one of the founders of Inema Art Centre was a celebration of love ahead of February 14.

The exhibition that opened on February 11 was a showcase of the artist’s creativity and knack for artistic innovation, turning the usually plain-white walls of the main exhibition hall at Inema into a colourful crash of red –the colour of love.

Nkurunziza remarked that the exhibition was a celebration of love, art and passion, and indeed most of the works on display were accompanied with brief poetic notes extolling the virtues of love.

One of the highlights of the exhibition was the improvised works that took up one length of the exhibition hall.

They were tree stumps and roots cut to size and painted in deep red, and that reminded one of the heart’s arteries.

A few guests also walked away with prized paintings from the exhibition.
