DR Congo President Kabila rewards CHAN champions

KINSHASA – DR Congo President Joseph Kabila caused a stir yesterday when he rewarded the African Nations Championship (CHAN) winners DR Congo players and the entire technical bench.

KINSHASA – DR Congo President Joseph Kabila caused a stir yesterday when he rewarded the African Nations Championship (CHAN) winners DR Congo players and the entire technical bench.

The players who had made a courtesy call to the white house to present the trophy to the President were shocked beyond belief when each one of them was rewarded with a brand new Toyota Prado four wheel drive cars.

Speaking to supersport.com exclusively in a telephone interview team captain Joel Kimwaki said they were thrilled by the great gesture from the president

"It’s unbelievable what the President has done for the team it was indeed a sweet surprise to the entire team for the recognition of our good work in Rwanda.We thank him a team for rewarding us with great gifts that have shocked everyone in the team,” he said.

DR Congo beat Mali 3-0 to win their second Chan tournament since last winning the inaugural 2009 tournament.
